Candles in a different room?

I know scented candles are bad for geckos. I have a ton of partly used scented candles, and I was wondering if it would be safe to use them in a different room with all the doors closed, or if it would still hurt my gargoyle? For context, I’m in a one bedroom apartment so he isn’t super far away, but it still wouldn’t be in the same room as him.
