Potting mix for lilly pillies

I've been gifted two lilly pillies that I'm going to grow in pots. I have a couple of questions re. Potting mix I hope someone can help with: 1. Does it matter that my bag of native potting mix (leftover from some other potted natives) has been sitting in the sun for ages (like, almost a year)? 2. I've got most of a bag of Grow Better fruit & citrus mix I have no use for.. Would the lilly pillies go okay in this?
