When the garage door is fully closed and I try to open, it opens about an inch, then stops. I hear clicking on motor unit, it attempts to close the door. It hits the floor then and goes back up about an inch again and stops. Garage door won't full close until I pull the release cord.
If I manually open the door about a foot, then it will open all the way.
The spring is not broken.
It's really weird, I had this exact same issue last year. It was kind of intermittent until it completely stopped working. Called a repair guy and it worked flawlessly for him (even though he couldn't see the issue, he told me to buy a new motor and get it installed for $1000). It's continued to work flawlessly until this week and I'm having this issue again. I'm wondering if the cold is affecting it?
Any help would be appreciated.
Depends on cost. Board and service could be a couple hundred. If heโs charging 1000 for a new op it might be worth it. No way a new residential op should cost that much though
