Hi, installers are currently installing a door at my house and I see this huge gap between the door and the frame . 3/4β . They say it will be covered by the seal , but for the life in me I cannot believe this is the correct way to. We reach -40degree weather here and the seal is not insulated . In my opinion, It makes no sense to have such a high rating R value door and do this
Am I wrong ?
They definitely ordered the wrong size door or framed the hole to wide. Weatherstrip will typically cover that gap, it happens sometimes. I would normally put the seal on before the door so I know the door is sealing correctly when adjusting the tracks.the mix up is either the salesman or the contractor, try not to blame the installer

My track and weatherstrip are both done by the time my door is stacked. Itβs half the efforts and twice as fast. Also seals perfect
