2-year-old motor, the repair tech said I need to replace it. Thoughts?
Post Body

I have a LiftMaster that's just 2 years old. This morning I noticed that the wall switch wasn't working but the remote opener was. My first move was to remove the switch and test the wires. That failed so I immediately assumed it was a wiring issue as the wiring is original. Repair tech came out and his assessment was also that it was a wiring issue. He strung up new wiring on the outside of the drywall only to discover that that wasn't the issue. This led him to believe that the circuit board inside the motor had gone bad. His recommendation was to replace the entire motor. He said that would cost $750 all in with labor. I asked if we could just replace the circuit board, which he agreed we could and said that would be $450 plus labor. I'm worried this won't fix it and I'll ultimately need to purchase a new motor.

I'm wondering if anyone has any advice on how to proceed? Based on your experience does his assessment sound correct? I'm really surprised that my 2-year-old motor has shit the bed and needs to be replaced. Thanks in advance!!

Edit: fixed a typo

Tighten down wall station to hard? Did you try a new wall station? Circuit boards arenโ€™t that expensive but can go bad, if you had electrical surge or storm
