I’m using GarageBand to record and edit a podcast my wife and I are doing. I have a “template” file that has our separate voice tracks and our intro/outro sequence all set up and balanced the way I want so I don’t have to go through a whole set up every time we want to record. I just load the template file and save it as a new file when we’re done. Next week, load the template file again. However, I noticed the other day that the file size for my template is starting to dwarf the rest of our episodes, even though it contains less recording than the other files. After that I noticed that when I begin recording, the individual audio segments are starting from where we left off last time. For example, the episode I’m working on currently starts at “Track1Name#181.3” and the last episode ends on “Track1Name#177.55.” The gap can be explained by our sound test clips. So my template file is remembering everything we’ve ever done to it even without having that information saved. I’m wondering if there’s any way to stop GarageBand from keeping that information within the file, or if there’s a better way to achieve the “template” set up that I have currently.
