Dissociative versus “Disassociative” (and other words the lawyers fuck up)

God bless ‘em, but the defense attorney and lead prosecutor are such boomers sometimes

It’s Dissociative Identity Disorder…not disassociative

That’s why Dr. Torres kept saying ”di-ssociative”. The two words (dissociate and disassociate), while similar in meaning, have two unique definitions. I don’t think disassociative is even a word. Dissociative is the term used in psychology and I’d think the attorneys would have noticed the slight difference and/or at least have tried to phonetically sound out the word written in front of them

When Dr. Torres sounds out the word…how are they not hearing the discrepancy themselves?

Another example is how no one can consistently say “Stauch” correctly (except for the judge) and that includes her own lawyer

And my final grievance is with the incorrect pluralization of diagnosis to diagnosisis when it should be diagnosEs
