Hi.
Looking for a good gaming headset with virtual surround sound. Would appreciate any advice. Looking for around 150USD, but I can go up to about 200USD if there's really a lot of added value compared to 150USD sets.
I know some people argue that Virtual Surround Sound isn't worth it. But starting with the assumption that it is in fact worthwhile, is it better to seek Stereo Headsets with Windows 10 Dolby Atmos, or Headsets advertised as 5.1? (I primarily play PC and don't mind stereo for occasional PS4 play)
Besides looking for headsets based off of the answer to this, I'm also looking for:
- 'Just' good sound quality. Of course I wouldn't be averse to audiophile level quality, but its not my main concern.
- Open back
- I generally play for long sessions, so lightweight, comfortable to wear for at least 5 hours would be great.
- A Headset that can operate in both wired and wireless mode would be nice, as long as it doesn't compromise the wired experienced.
- I do play with friends often enough to need a mic, but mostly I SP. So a mic that is good enough for my voice to be heard is all I need.
- I'm much more interested in an immersive experience than competitive play.
- Since prices vary widely in my country, even the same set from different vendors, multiple recommendations would be really appreciated!
- Not strictly necessary, but if the connection is by detachable USB cables that would be great. So I can get another usb cable and just have one cable always attached to PC and one to PS4.
** Bonus points if I could conceivably leave them on my desktop as ad-hoc desktop speakers :P **
