Schooling laptop with a side of games?

Post Body

I have decided to go back to school and go to college after years. I am looking at a business degree and computer programming and technology engineering.

I have a pretty beefy tower (i9-10850k/RTX 2070) and I am looking for a laptop for school as well as some portable gaming. I'm looking at a $1000-$1500CAD price point that's somewhat flexible.

A good battery life is ideal and I will also be getting a good high capacity portable powerbank for just in case.

I wouldn't be playing many competitive fps games. Probably would be looking at more racing, indie and casual games. Sometimes more graphically demanding like Forza or the Witcher but most of the time Stardew Valley, Celest, Diablo 2(remaster).

The biggest thing is being a strong tool for school and a companion for my tower in the processing speed (I am impatient). Something reasonable sized, it does not need to be 'discrete' as in it can look 'gamery' but ideally not too over the top.

I have done a bit of research and looking at PPI# it seems that FHD screens (unless WQHD screens are the same price) are the go to.

Tl:dr- looking for good school/gaming laptop

  • decent battery life (extended with powerbank)
  • (FHD) or (WQHD) 144hz
  • good on the go gaming performance (already have tower pc)
  • okay storage (files will be dropped to and from mass storage)

Thank you for any help/recommendations! :)
