Apologies for not following a structure about what I'm looking for because honestly I still haven't decided. I've come to a conclusion that I'm going to sell my desktop which is fairly decent 3700X and 6600XT with a 1440p 165 monitor to grab a laptop. The reason being I have young kids so being able to move around the house work/play is vital and even being able to game away from the desk is appealing. Unfortunately I don't have the budget to match the performance of my desk which is fine.
I have a few questions:
- Mux switch how important is this for an external display do you gain much FPS, and is there a noticeable performance drop when plugging into the Display port that might be hardwired to the iGPU over the dGPU?
- Is there any ultrabooks with dedicated graphics the sort of laptop that can charge over USB-C that could run Apex Legends for example at 1080p? Or am I in the realms of need more power as I assume most are 65w charging?
Onto what I'm ideally looking for:
- If it could be under £1000 would be perfect, I could stretch a very small amount over but the cheaper the better.
- Atleast a 6 core CPU / and minimum for a 3050ti happy to go last gen if its worthwhile such as 1660ti/2060.
- I'm ok with any screen size, weight, USB-C is a must for my headset and the ability to upgrade storage and memory with some half decent battery life to do office tasks.
- Looks wise nothing to gamer looking if possible.
I have seen a few laptops such as:
