Lately, my laptop (a ROG Zephyrus G14 that I got second-hand, at half price, on eBay) is starting to have overheating issues on top of the problems it's developed in the last few years; my neighbour (that works with PCs for a living) thinks he should open the laptop and see if there's dust inside of it - we'll do that, I'll see how it goes, but if the issue persists, I'm going to have to look into a new gaming laptop.
Now, I work both from home and at the office, depending on what day of the week it is, so buying a desktop PC for gaming and a laptop for working wouldn't be ideal; the neighbour suggested a Dell laptop, since they're quite durable, but I don't know if they can run most modern games well - Dell's got the Alienware line, too, and I could get one of those maybe... but only if it's not at full price.
For reference, my current laptop could run BG3 and Like A Dragon 8 only at the lowest settings, while the lag on Ghost of Tsushima, The Last of Us and, oddly enough, indies such as Senua II and JRPGs such as Trails through Daybreak was bad enough I had to quit those games.
Since my laptop can theoretically run all of them, perhaps there is, indeed, a dust issue but, from what I was able to make out, VRAM might play a role, too. So, what do you think about the two laptops I mentioned, and what are other laptops suitable for gaming and working you'd like to suggest?
