Hi there,
I just purchased the above laptop (3080ti UHD variant), and due to Windows update and BSOD issues its currently away on RMA. But one specific issue I wanted to ask about was that I noticed when playing videos that any scene where the camera was either panning or following a moving person, even if the movement was just a few steps, would cause stuttering of the picture. At least I think that’s the word; I’m not especially tech savvy, but it was like the frame rate was dipping with movement of the scene and was wildly out of sync with the media. I mostly used the Firefox browser and noticed the issue there, but I don’t think the issue was just browser related as when I opened the display settings in Windows which shows the preview videos, they were stuttering too, as if playing in stop motion. My upgrade was from a Dell M17 R3 which didn’t noticeably have any of these issues, and even my backup laptop, an old Gigabyte P17, isn’t having the same issues.
I tried turning off hardware acceleration in Firefox, and this seemed to half help, but the picture quality changed from the ghosting that was happening when the stuttering was occurring, to instead becoming quite blurry.
To anyone who owns a Raider GE77 or similar, is this normal for this laptop? I’d wondered if maybe the downscaling from UHD to 1080p was just not that great, but when gaming it has seemed fine. Any opinions would be appreciated!
