It has not gone well. The deal I feel was too good to be true. I bought the first one back in November and I had it for a couple of weeks until I tried to hook up an external monitor to it…turns out it had a faulty USB-C port. Took it back and swapped it out with no more issues!
Then three weeks after that I’m watching YouTube on it and I notice a clicking sound coming from within the machine. It happened while charging and while off charger. Resetting the computer would have the sound start up again. I narrowed it down to either a faulty fan or an internal component about to fail so I took it back to Micro Center. Without even looking at the computer they offered another exchange as the rep told me that I’m not the only one having issues with those Maingear computers as more and more keep coming back to them.
After looking over what they had in stock and trying to find something close to the performance of the Maingear laptop, they gave me an exchange for an ASUS STRIX SCAR 17 with a 3070ti. A bit of a downgrade considering but the manager was helpful in price matching what I had originally bought.
TLDR: Had to switch out the Maingear laptop twice due to defects and ended up with an ASUS!
