Considering that Depth of field effects in games tries to simulate film camera and human visual behaviour, why does it seem to be so hated ?
Post Body

I understand that sometimes the art director in a game may overdo it, but I love how real it is.

I look at the monitor as I type this, and the lamp a couple feet behind it is out of focus, I can't pick out the visual details as clearly as when I decide to look up and stare at it.

Movies have done it forever, and people tend to prefer photographs with depth of field.

I'm playing Wolfenstein and I think it is so awesomely done there, where just like in real life if you look at something (using the cursor) the focus becomes clear, just like my example with the lamp.

When I look online for tweaking tips, i usually see people complaining about it and telling you to turn it off, and I just can't see why you would.
