Do more violent main character death scenes make you fear death more in a game?

Notable examples are Resident Evil 4, Dead Space, The Last of Us, Tomb Raider 2013 (dat tree branch).
I realized death is much more scary and tangible when you actually see the voilence youre visiting on NPCs visited on your character. Going from Resident evil 4 to 5 made this stand out the most. When i saw leons head get lopped off by the chainsaw man, it made me feel like i screwed up a lot worse, than when i saw chris take a chainsaw haymaker to his chest, and just got a red screen of death.
