[40/EST/PC] Looking for friends to play Co-op PvE (relaxing) crafting-survival games and pve board games with, maybe some action pve games.

Post Body

The tldr version: Hi, I'm looking for patient personalities (aka slow players for 90% of the games I have in my list) for frequent sandbox or pve games. Ideally to have conversations with while in-game during more relaxing games like Raft. I'd also like to play Star Wars: Squadrons pve or Overcooked (rather more fast paced and not really a game to have a conversation in).

Times in EDT / GMT-4: Some weekday evenings (7-11) and weekends (afternoon-evenings mostly)

The long version, hope you have a coffee cause here's a book:

Hi there, and thank you for taking the time to read this long post.

I'm looking for a few gaming friends that are into cooperative PvE games, but who also like slow in-depth conversations while playing games either by text chat or voice.( Usually not so much during the early setup rush of course.)

Since I'm looking for more of a close knit friendship along with gaming, I'm not looking to join another discord server at the moment (though I do think everyone should have their own for the ease of voice chat and screenshare). Since servers winds up becoming just another place to scream into the void trying to find a few people to consistently game with, and too many servers makes it hard to peek in on all of them.

Not really looking to jump into someone's stream either for the sake of streaming. That'd be something I'm open to later after being friends for a bit first though.

I'm a casual but frequent player, usually an hour or two a day on weekday evenings, more on weekends. Also more in the winter and due to covid. I do some full day binges on occasion as well. I don't play persistent server games very often since I don't want to be in each day trying to upkeep things. I have other hobbies that take up time as well.

In the survival-style games, I tend to focus on gardening and cooking, and tends to be the main factor or why I get into a game. I like the PvE aspect since it provides the extra activity. If I fight, I'm a distance fighter when possible, or play support.

Non-gaming but important details:

  • EST/EDT time zone / Located in North America, Michigan
  • LGBTQIA friendly (While I only fall partially into the ace spectrum, being aware and friendly regarding the population is important to me)
  • Somewhere left leaning which should be obvious due to the prior item - not really topics I like conversing about, but somewhat important for friends to have a few similar values
  • I only know US English (I took Spanish in high school but don't remember any of it)
  • I'm 90% SFW in conversation, and only prefer nsfw conversation when it's more of a discussion topic in the same way people talk about history or science.
  • Not a fan of trash talk. Just a dash of it on seldom occasion (like if the group keeps dying 8 times against a boss and finally take it out).
  • Likes to discuss emotional health, relationship styles, attachment theory, food and gardening, drink making and other making hobbies.
  • I tend to be quiet but open up as I get used to a person
  • I drink, but don't play drunk.
  • I rarely use my medical vape.
  • See my profile for other various things I talk about

*****Example Games Below This Line*****\*

Survival / crafting games

  • Raft
  • Don't Starve Together
  • Minecraft (java) - haven't really played it but I have it
  • Ark - not server hosted (via epic when it was free, might get it via steam if it's really cheap)
  • 7days to die - not server hosted
  • The Forest
  • Valheim

Sandbox:

  • Gardenpaws
  • Stardew Valley
  • Farm with friends
  • Parkitech (Seriously, they came out with a multiplayer version of a themepark builder and I have no idea how it's supposed to work)
  • Farming Simulator 19

Flight simulators:

  • Star Wars: Squadrons
  • XWing vs Tie Fighter

Action Games

  • We Must Go Deeper
  • BaroTrauma

Party Games

  • Love in a Dangerous Spacetime
  • Overcooked2
  • Embr

PVE FPS:

  • Overwatch (mostly against AI unless there's an event and I have a friend to join into an arcade session)
  • Destiny 2
  • (Should I try Warzone?)

Boardgames examples:

Games that are either fully co-op, or are most points win usually without specifically attacking other players

  • Hanabi
  • Flashpoint
  • Pandemic
  • Castle Panic
  • Elder Signs
  • Forbidden Desert / Island
  • Ghost Stories
  • Dungeon Lords
  • 7 Wonders
  • Space Alert
  • The Crew: Quest for Planet 9

MMORPGs:

Honestly haven't played any for quite some time. I'm a bit too casual and often these take a lot of concentrated time

  • ToramOnline - mobile free mmorpg that isn't p2w. I think money goes towards costumes.

PnPRPGs:

  • D&D 3.x / Pathfinder
  • Shadowrun 4th

Solo games if examples are useful for finding other games:

  • Planet Coaster / Zoo
  • Satisfactory (though this is multiplayer)
  • Oxygen Not Included
  • RimWorld
  • Dwarf Fortress
  • Wayward
  • X3 (various space flight & business simulators)
  • Just about any city builder games
  • Business management games
  • Tycoon games
