The tldr version: Hi, I'm looking for slower paced long term gamers for frequent sandbox & pve games who are interested in talking while playing in the same game world with occasional jumps to an action game. Age doesn't matter since it's a focus on personality, behaviors and values, though I'd say 18 recommended due to conversation topic limiting factors and games that contain alcohol and such.
Times in EDT/EST / UTC-4: Some weekday evenings (7 or 9:30 - midnight) and weekends (afternoon-evenings mostly)
Topics & behaviors that I enjoy that is eventually mentioned that others may feel uncomfortable with so I'm mentioning this up front:
- topics that can come up that people get wierded out by: personal behavioral roots, self-help exercises from therapy, attachment theory, polyamory, multiamory episodes, solo-polyamory. These tend to also come with topics that like privledge and can bleed into some topics that I normally avoid like politics. Understandably some people don't want to hear about these kinds of things but withholding topics comes at the risk of being unauthentic, so I'm looking for people who do.
Other fairly important stuff I've moved up
- my play style: a mix of parallel play & co-op play in the same game at the same time, but not necessarily complete communal play. (I like having a solo base near a communal base for example, and most of the supplies go to the communal but some things I find I want to keep for my own projects. Which is different than when going out as a group for supplies).
- I'm a slow player. Really slow. I can spend a week or two in a game and get nearly nothing done but still want to keep playing, while others have built 5 buildings, explored a few dungeons and then stopped playing because they're bored with the game.
Current game focuses: modded Minecraft (java, focused on minecolonies, create, factories, farming/food and furniture & decor mods), Project Zomboid (modded, mostly for farming and interactions).
The longer version:
Hi there, and thank you for taking the time to read this long post.
I'm looking for a few gaming friends that are into cooperative PvE games, but who also like slow in-depth conversations while playing games either by text chat or voice. (Usually after the initial rush to survive.)
Since I'm looking for more of a close knit communication with gaming with several people (possibly with some I already know as well). I'm not looking to join another large discord server at the moment. Servers winds up becoming just another place to post lfg while trying to find a few people to consistently game with, and too many servers makes it hard to peek in on all of them.
Not looking to jump into someone's stream for the sake of their streaming. (I don't mind being part of a stream, but it's usually because I've gamed with the person long enough outside of any stream first.)
I'm a casual but frequent player, usually an hour or two a day on weekday evenings, more on weekends. I can afk in a game during work hours but this tends to be in games that aren't hectic. I'm more online in the winter. I do some full day binges on occasion as well. I don't play persistent server games that require constant upkeep or level managing (building decays, animal feeding requirements, or games where level difference matters a lot) since I don't want to *need* to be in each day trying to upkeep things. I have other hobbies that take up time as well.
In the survival-style games, I tend to focus on gardening and cooking, and tends to be the main factor or why I get into a game. I like the PvE aspect since it provides the extra activity of something to fight against or build against. During fights, I'm a distance fighter when possible, or play support.
I'd say I'm 80% slow survival and 20% action in my approach to games.
Non-gaming but important details:
- EST/EDT time zone / Located in North America, Michigan
- LGBTQIA friendly (While I only fall partially into the ace spectrum (demi), being aware and friendly regarding the population is an important value to me)
- Somewhere left leaning which should be obvious due to the prior item - not really topics I like conversing about, but somewhat important for friends to have a few similar values
- I only know US English (I took Spanish in high school but don't remember any of it)
- I'm 90% SFW in conversation, and only prefer nsfw conversation when it's more of a discussion topic in the same way people talk about history or science.
- Not a fan of trash talk. Just a dash of it on seldom occasion (like if the group keeps dying 8 times against a boss and finally take it out).
- Likes to discuss emotional health, relationship styles, attachment theory, food and gardening, drink making and other making hobbies.
- I tend to be quiet but open up as I get used to a person and their thoughts on things.
- I drink, and may have a drink while gaming, but don't play drunk.
- I have a herbal/medical vape and seldom use it and almost never go beyond a bit of minor pain relief.
- See my profile for other various things I talk about
