A little background for those who are unfamiliar with Wikipedia's behind the scenes stuff. There are lots of wikipedia projects related to all sorts of topics. Any article related to a specific project gets tagged as being a part of that project. So the GamerGate article is tagged as of interest to WikiProject Video games, WikiProject Feminism, WikiProject Journalism, and WikiProject Internet culture.

Have you guessed what the problem is? Of course, it's the feminists!!

So this screenshot shows the WikiProject Feminism Page.

Of issue is that little sidebox showing which articles that intersect with WikiProject Feminism have had the most active editing in the past few days. Most active editing is defined by number of edits by any wikipedian, as there's no official way to track who is a part of which wikiproject. And any edit counts. So a popular article is often high up, even if no real changes have been made, because vandals do something stupid and then get quickly reverted. But those are facts, and of course, facts are not important here.

A crop of that sidebox gets posted to KIA by /u/staylaughing, who proclaims:

They literally raid articles they don't like, and vandalize them with bias.

Modern wikipedia editors are spineless people who won't edit anything for truthfulness and if there's any war over an article you can pretty much bet SJWs to win it after they lock it.

So much lol here. Vandalize with bias. Apparently, bias is now a weapon. Hi, I'm /u/hermithome and as a social justice warrior I don't weild and axe or a sword, I weild bias.

Also, modern wikipedia editors? As opposed to the wikipedia editors of yore, back when ye old internet was an untamed jungle tackled only by the spiniest of men?

/u/GUIpsp quickly points out that the image is meaningless as that's simply the number of edits by all wikipedians and gets downvoted for his trouble.

There's some amusement over the Hitatchi Magic Wand article, as they think the feminists are hard at work editing that. They aren't. In fact, there aren't even lots of non-feminists editing the article. As GUIpsp points out, one person is editing the article, they're simply doing it a lot.

So much for Wales locking this shit up. Yeah, I mean, you get pissed off about women taking your games and tweet at a guy who owns an Encyclopedia, of course, the first thing he'll do is ban all the feminists and let you write articles any which way you want.

Give him time, Wikipedia is way bigger than this entire controversity, if he's looking at it, he'll probably look from the bottom up. He probably doesn't want to rush to any conclusions, and if he finds the accusations correct, he'll probably try to find the highest member of the "SJW" chain, and ban them all at once, instead of just this small part.

Wut. Gamergate "movement"? Wins out? Wins what? And Jimmy Wales really isn't responsible for the details of particular articles, except of course for his own (he has a bit of a history of meddling there).

Also, Wikipedia does have a history of being a site very active to women and feminists, but nope, its still not enough for GGs. Because clearly, just by dint of existing, they're running wikipedia.
