Hey, GameCube community!
So, this probably seems stupid but I'm incredibly upset over it. This evening I decided to finally clean out my trusty GameCube that I've had since I was a teenager. I've kept incredibly good care of it and always pride myself on all my retro consoles being in good shape.
While screwing the disc reader back into the casing, slowly, I heard a crack. Lo and behold, the screwshaft had snapped. This happened again on another one afterwards and, as silly as it sounds, I'm pretty heartbroken and angry at myself.
I'm always so careful with things like this and it just seems like maybe time and age were working against me. I wasn't forcing anything or overtightening: both broke before the screw was even halfway into the respective shafts. Has this happened to anyone else?
Functionally, my GameCube is fine but I'm trying to get over the fact that now parts of it are broken...and if I hadn't done a deeper clean it would still be in perfect condition.
I know it's stupid but, man, I'm upset over it, haha.
