Weird stuttering at the end of wind waker

So I dug out my trusty GameCube to play through wind waker the other day. Everything was fine till I got to the end and it started stuttering. IIRC the ending scene and credits are actually a video file.. It's like the video is playing in slow motion. I have two copies so I don't think it's the disc..
I'm not sure what to think laser? Capacitors? Thermal throttling of the CPU? Has anyone had this issue before?
