Have any of you noticed how, compared to older movies from the studio, Disney/Pixar movies right now are objectively terrible. (I personally thought Luca was good, but that's not important) Think of Turning Red, Soul, Strange World. Then think of Cars, Monster's Inc, Toys Story. What do the last ones have in common have that the the first don't? They have good music, the story's are more or less carried out in a similar fashion, the animation of the newer ones are better in fact. So what is it about those old ones that made them so darn good? The inspiration, that's what. Think about it, all the original Disney/Pixar movies were based on things kids either knew about or thought about, all the time. Who never thought about talking animals, or toys walking around when you weren't looking. What girl never wanted to be a princess? What boy never wanted cars to go about like regular dudes. Now look at the new movies Pixar and Disney have been pushing out, political, coming of age, and existential. What do they all have in common? NO CHILD EVER THINKS OF THESE THINGS! No kid, left alone, will try to figure out why are they here, or why certain groups are different from others. They don't understand complex emotional ties with career choices, or, to be frank, emotions in general. Disney has stopped using a childlike creative mind and has instead grown with it's audience, for the worse. If they focused more on live action storytelling, maybe they could pull it off, but as of late the live action movies are reserved for remakes. In the end, they are a children's entertainment company, and if they focused more on that, doing things like they used to, maybe they could make more movies for the whole family.
