Long story short, I'm seriously considering taking the Sound Design program at VFS. The only things I'm talented at and am passionate about is music and anything surrounding creative work such as that. I work in the film industry and have loved watching the sound department, and think that specifically working within the video game industry would be amazing. I am almost 30 and have been playing a game of back and forth for years on end, trying to figure out what I should go to school for.
When I heard about this program, I immediately felt like it was something I could actually be good at. I have lot of connections in the video game and music industry as well which is helpful.
Anyways my question and concern is - I have zero experience myself working with the programs and gear involved in this program/sort of work. Although I've been around it frequently as my ex and lots of loved ones are in this industry, i've never done it myself.
It seems like a lot of people that take these programs already know a lot and i'm really terrified that i'll be 10 steps behind everyone else and therefore fall behind. I know it doesn't require previous experience to take it, so I could just jump in, but i wanted to know from people who have taken these programs (not necessarily VFS specifically) if that will be an issue or if I should still follow my heart and do this?
