Hey guys, just wanted to post some motivation to anyone thinking about stopping gambling. In June, I effectively gambled the last of my savings. I brought it down from 300k to 0 in 2 years due to online casinos.
I knew I was fucked up and couldn’t do it on my own so I went to GA meetings and followed their suggestions. Luckily, I have someone in my life I trust with my finances so when they recommended I turn over my finances I jumped on board. I have to say, giving over my finances was one of the most relieving things I’ve done for myself in a long time. I’ve now had 2 months of my income sent to an account with my dad as a co-signer. I give him the amounts for my bills and he sends me the exact amount for which I provide a receipt confirming it was spent properly.
This has let my money finally start to accumulate again! I’m fortunate that I have a decent income and that I stopped gambling before I took out credit or figured out how to gamble on credit. Well I just paid all my bills for this month and still have 6k left in the account! This is the first time in years that my net worth has increased due to my income and not appreciation. If I can keep this up, I should have a chance to get back to where I was pre-gambling!
Try GA if you really want to quit, it’s helped me a ton and they gave me a bunch of tools that work well for staying quit.
