New messages aren't showing the notification bubble on AOD for Android Messages

Hi all, I'm not sure if this is an issue with a setting I have, or just Android Messages in general.
It has worked for Samsung Messages, but whenever I get a notification for Android Messages, the little notification bubble that shows a snippet of the text that was sent doesn't show up.
I have my notification settings on "Sound and Pop-Up". Anything else I need to have set?
