Wireless charging question

I bought an s9 yesterday, along with the Otterbox Defender. My problem is that I have to keep re-positioning the phone till I finally find the "sweet spot" for it to charge. Of course the sales person said it would be, "No problem to use". Is there anything I can do to make the connection easier, aside from removing my phone from its case every night? Or should I just return the charger and find a different one?
