Melopow M002 Oreo DeX 1440p not supported?

Samsung DeX now supports 1440p with Oreo. However with my Melopow M002 USB-C Adapter the 1440p option is greyed out.
Good news is that the adapter still works on Oreo despite articles claiming otherwise.
According to the official site the adapter has support for "4k" 30 FPS.
Can anybody confirm this behaviour/restriction?
