Help with headphone jack

When using the auxiliary input, if Im listening to music, the audio constantly pauses, and the volume occasionally gets changed without my control. Some people said that it may be fixed with putting pressure on the back of the case, above the speaker, but I think that made it worse for me. I do have a pretty big crack on the front of my screen from the first week I had my phone before I could get a case with a cover. Am I out of luck? Thank you.
