Some devices can't connect to S8 Mobile Hotspot

I'm having an issue with my S8. Some devices (an Android head unit in my car, an old tablet) can't connect to the S8's mobile hotspot. They will connect, then immediately drop. This will go on in a cycle indefinitely. The device shows for an instant on the S8 mobile hotspot screen, but then disappears.
If I use Open wifi rather than WPA, they connect fine, but this is obviously not secure.
These devices can connect to other wifi networks fine, and connected to my S6's mobile hotspot with no problems. Other devices can connect to the hotspot fine, too.
Does anyone else have the same problem, or a workaround?
