I'm on a Verizon Galaxy S7 (SM-G930V, baseband version G930VVRS2APF2) and the following bug works the same on a couple of LG bluetooth headsets I've tried (including an HBS810) and an Insignia bluetooth speaker. The bug is NOT present when using a wired headset. I have Tube Amp Pro enabled under Sound Effects but the bug is the same with or without it enabled.
How to replicate the bug:
Connect your bluetooth headset and, if you haven't already, set up Adapt Sound (Settings > Sounds and vibration > Sound quality and effects > Adapt Sound).
Test it out while playing some music (in any app), ideally music you know well, something loud and sonically complex. Toggle it off and on to see whether you can very clearly tell the difference between when Adapt Sound is active and when it's not. If during setup Adapt Sound didn't find much to adjust, this won't work, as you'll need your ears to figure this out and it's good if there is a big difference between off and on.
Keep the same song at the ready and disconnect your bluetooth headset, leaving Adapt Sound set to On. Then, connect the headset again and play the song. Does it sound to you as if Adapt Sound is active or not?
With the music still playing, go back to the Adapt Sound page, verify that it's still turned on, and quickly toggle it off and on. Does it sound like Adapt Sound wasn't really on and is now actually on after toggling it off and on again? That's the bug.
Basically, after disconnecting and reconnecting a bluetooth headset, Adapt Sound is not really active despite saying it's active, and the only way to get it working again is to go toggle it off and on again. This has been the case since I got the phone back when it launched, through numerous updates.
I've contacted Samsung's support twitter account about this and described the issue. They had me try to replicate it while in safe mode, and I confirmed that the issue was the same in safe mode. They then argued that it was probably because I'm not using a Samsung bluetooth headset (what they initially were calling "Samsung compatible" until I asked them whether they actually just meant "Samsung branded").
It would be great if people could try this out (especially if you have a Samsung bluetooth headset!) and report back with:
Your phone model and baseband version (from Settings > About phone)
Brand and model of your bluetooth headset(s)
Whether Adapt Sound makes a lot of difference when enabled
Whether you have any other sound effects enabled (like Tube Amp Pro or UHQ upscaler)
Whether you experience the bug as I described it
Hopefully I can gather some more information to go back to Samsung with and convince them that this isn't just because I have a non-Samsung headset and that it's really a bug.
