How do I get links to open in their respective apps?

So for example I was scrolling reddit earlier, and there was a post with a Instagram link attached to it. Whenever I tap on the link, it opens a chrome tab within the reddit app, instead of the Instagram app. Also the "open in app" button on the screen after clicking the link just takes me to the play store. The "open links in apps" setting is turned on, as well as that specific setting for each app. So how do I get links to open within their respective apps instead of Chrome?
