Root problems (still on 4.3)

Hey everyone, I'm trying to get a last minute root in before having Kit-Kat jammed down my throat. Problem is, I can't get Kingo or vRoot to recognize the phone.
I've tried multiple cables, two computers, restarted the phone, the computers, etc. I've tried everything I can think of. USB debugging is on & the computers recognize the phone, but neither rooting application does.... any suggestions?
