This small plastic tape was out of my Fold 3 crack while I tried to clean the crack that had some clothing cottom. Is it safe to put the handset in the water?

My Fold isn't opening totally because there's some clothing cottom in the crack. I was using paper to remove, couldn't remove it all, but suddenly this plastic left the crack. It wasn't the plastic the faulty for the smartphone not opening 180°.
I was planning then to put the Fold 3 in the water but my girlfriend asked "what if that was the waterproof protection?"
So I am asking here. Please, help
