In 2013, eight-year-old Gabriel Fernandez died in Palmdale, CA after eight months of torture by his mother, Pearl Fernandez, and her boyfriend Isauro Aguirre. Fernandez pleaded guilty in return for life in prison and Aguirre was sentenced to death.
