I’d been friends with this sophomore for at least a semester or two. We had the same major, so often ended up in the same classes. Some people — well, most people — saw him as a little weird. But to me? I guess I saw more than that. Felt more than that.
At some point I… well, I don’t know if I necessarily fell in love with him. But I fell in serious \like* with him. Maybe I wasn’t ready to start picking out baby names or that kind of thing. Speaking of which, it just made sense to make sure I had birth control handy, just in case.*
I did get a sense that things were getting more serious between us, although we were still playing the game of waiting for the other one to make the first move. Or at least I was. I probably should have explained the rules to him, but that would have been making the first move.
He invited me back to his dorm room one night though. Not to study, because it was a rare break from tests, or papers, or projects. So I knew he had something special planned, and I was cool with whatever it was.
At least I thought I was going to be.
He met me outside the dorm to help me get in, then walked with me down the hallway. Music and tv and video games took turns with our ears as we walked down that long row of doors.
When we got to his room, he said maybe I should sit down. That didn’t sound ominous or anything, but I did sit down. There was his desk chair available, but I still was hoping for the best so I sat on his bed, leaving plenty of room for him next to me.
“I… I have a secret to tell you,” he said, pacing a little in the small dorm room. “To share with you.”
He turned to face me. “I’m not like other guys.”
All special effects are optional. Conversely, add your own to other spots if you want to.
Coming up with a title for this was harder than most, and I still am not fully committed to the one I chose. That can be said for just about everything I write though. Rarely can I say "that title is perfect". Or if I do, I mean that the title feels right to me, but probably doesn't mean much to other people and won't get them to read further. I did consider several for this one, and ended up liking this the best out of all of them.
This was originally a more conventional script that I spun my wheels on for quite some time, but GWNarrative has really helped me re-envision some scripts in a way where suddenly everything clicks and the story escapes my head and onto the page in a burst of creativity.
Anyone who wants to can make whatever changes to this story they want. As mentioned before, the SFX are optional. Don't let them stop you from recording this if you want to. The title and the tags are optional. It's the story itself that is the focus for me, and I'm flexible in how it is told.
Feel free to comment, as comments mean a lot in knowing that someone actually liked what you did, or it at least made them think as they read it. But please don't tag others in your comments.
Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoy or enjoyed the script.
