Warnings/Explanations:
This is my entry into "Raventales" on GWNarrative, gothic horror tales for the spooky season. As such, it's a bit of horror mixed with eroticism. This is a continuation, of sorts, of "The Highwayman" by Alfred Noyes. If you haven't read the poem, it's about the titular Highwayman planning to run away with his lover after a big score. But they are overheard and she's kidnapped by King George's men. It uh... It doesn't end well. Their spirits meet on cold nights.
As such, there is talk of death (offscreen) and the narrators are ghosts. A series of living women are kidnapped by the same spirits who kidnapped his lover all those years ago, drawn to the Lovers and trapped in a circular hell of their own. While nothing explicit is said, rape is implied.
Until, one night, things change. There is one (ghostly) death and possession, making one party's consent dubious. If that doesn't sound like your cup of tea, I advise you not to consume.
That being said:
Hi hi, it's Fly~! I promise I'll get back to living lovers soon, but I guess I've been on an undead kick.
"The Highwayman" is one of my favorite dark poems. I fell in love with first reading and it's stuck with me since. I had been planning on doing a story based around it, and Raventales was the perfect opportunity. Lost lovers reuniting? Pain? Angst!? How could I pass it up?
