Question: How do collabs between writers work?

Hello people,

Question is pretty simple. I’ve been trying to wrap my head around it but the truth is, I don’t really understand how it works exactly. I have few ideas but I would love to hear an explanation or infos from someone who actually did it or saw it happen.

So, how do collabs between writers work and what would you consider a "collab"?

I’m interested to know even from a practical point of view. For example, do you both (or more) writers write lines for the same character? And stuff like this.
