Naming Characters in scripts

Post Body

Is it something good? All good stories require names and characters, after all. And sometimes-- A Nice catchy name can help a script feel memorable, and the characters within just as much!

or-- Is it something bad? After all, A lot of performers who play these scripts tend to enjoy inserting themselves into it-- and wouldn't an entirely separate name make that less possible/distract from that?

I would love to hear thoughts on this!

Edit: In more specific terms-- The Name for the Reader's character, or any off screen characters! Such as "Hi, My name is Stevie Steve" or something of such nature.
