[M] No. No, mage, we cannot ‘get over this’. I want to sort this out once and for all. That's why I tracked you down tonight. I want... I want a duel.

[F] [Laughs] A duel?! You’re not serious?!

[M] Yes... yes... a duel. One on one. No magic—

[F] Er, you can’t do magic anyway—

[M] No tricks! Just me and you... daggers drawn, and may the best one win... sort of thing.

[F] [Exasperated groan] Ugghh, for fu— okay, okay. If you really feel the need to indulge in some kind of pathetic, desperate display of machismo to try and reclaim your dignity then—

[M] You never let up, do you, you little—

[F] Hey, okay, okay, if it'll make you feel better... [quietly] \cough* when I beat you... [smirks]*

[M] Oh yeah?

[F] Yeah!

[M] Well, we'll see about that.

This is a fun one - I've discovered that I love writing people bickering! 😆

It was partially inspired by this prompt which set me off thinking about how an amateur spellcaster could outwit their enemy with a very simple spell. As usual I came up with something weird and obtuse but I think it just about works. I had soooo much fun writing this one, and it actually turned out a lot more wholesome than I was originally planning.😉
