The speaker is reluctantly attending a Masquerade Ball to celebrate the New Year, but he’s only there to find the woman he hooked up with last year. They didn’t exchange names or any way to contact one another, so the speaker has shown up in the same costume as the year before in hopes that the woman has done the same. Throughout the script, the speaker is expressing his desire for finding her, his distaste for the ball, and also reminiscing on the time they spent together.
