Hello there,
Itâs me, Darling. Iâm back with a âmy thoughts were too loud at 4amâ script so I pushed through sleep deprivation to finish this in one sitting. I have a sordid history with hospitals, so writing this was a bit of catharsis for me. I enjoyed writing about two people having an emotional moment together in a hospital setting.
The speaker role is a bit more verbally spicy than I was expecting, but your characters know who they are and will be written that way no matter what. Itâs always fun watching them evolve throughout a piece.
Speaker POV: Youâre at work one day when you get a call from the hospital telling you your childhood best friend was in a car accident. Fear fills you, and images of only the worst possibilities ricochet through your head nonstop. You get to the hospital and find them there, covered in bandages, but alive. God, you hate them right now, but you love them so much. How could they even think of leaving this earth without you? Years of hidden feeling spill out in a lecture, but maybe it was time for them to know how much their absence would affect you.
Listener POV: Youâre probably the unluckiest person on the planet to get hit by a drunk driver on a Wednesday night. Youâre not too injured, just a few superficial wounds. Youâre lucky nothing broke. However, youâre terrified in a different way. You made your childhood friend â who youâve been deeply in love with for years â your #1 emergency contact. You canât let them know what happened, you already bother them enough. It wasnât until they arrived, panting and desperate, that you realize your feelings might not be one-sided.
Nicknames used: Love, goof, sweetheart.
