You wake up tied to a chair in a strange place to a man being pushed towards you. You are both told that the only way out is to put your nerves and the fact you are random strangers aside to make each other come.

Speaker Notes

The speaker is a random guy who is also being forced into this situation. He doesn’t want to give in to his captor's twisted demands, but with threats looming, he has no choice. He has some protective instincts and after assurances from the even more terrified listener, goes about taking care of her the only way he can at the moment. He is remorseful, sweet, and protective towards the listener and extremely pissed off at the audience.

Listener notes

The female listener starts out terrified, naked, and tied to a chair. She is initially terrified of the speaker as he has been given the green light to brutalize her for his own gain. She has had her head filled with the idea a man is going to come in and have his way with her. But warms to him when he sees how reluctant, scared, and willing he is to die rather than become a monster like the villain (why yes this is like the ferry scene from The Dark Knight). She is pragmatic and understands that freedom is only assured if they cooperate. However, that doesn’t mean she isn’t scared out of her wits. She leans on the speaker as they have to put on a show for their captor.

Writer notes

Hey gang! I had an idea rattling in my head and couldn’t decide if I wanted to make it straightforward and very sweet, or use a plot twist, and make it downright sinister. Then I decided why can’t I just work this idea into two versions? I’m also dabbling with the idea of writing a version with a female speaker who has to comfort the male listener so there may be a part 3 in the future. This is the nicer version where both the speaker and listener are sympathetic.

For the “audience,” I am using text messages as a device to include a villain while only having to maintain a single voice. However, if the VA wants they can easily rework it into another character if they so choose.

As always SFX are optional and there is plenty of room to ad-lib or tweak the lines so you can do your best work. Also while I can be hyper specific with the direction notes they are more for me to be able to hear it in my head. Feel free to make adjustments.

There is a time limit mentioned that you can play around with so it makes sense in the context of the audio.

This may be on the lighter side but this script still contains themes of coercion, dubious consent, threats of violence, and voyeurism. Please mind the tags and stay safe out there.
