Not to toot my own horn, but my horn tends to toot itself up when I write smut.

In the past, I've dealt with it by spitting out 4000 words as a jumbled mess within 30 minutes in an attempt to "outrun the horny." Then I edit and rewrite the whole thing for days at a time.

In editing and rewriting, I have a certain emotional detachment from the words. I can step back and analyze. Unlike the first time I write them down, which feels more raw.

I'm curious as to how other writers deal with this sort of thing.

What are your tips and tricks?
