Summary

Two assimilated cyborg drones are awoken to demonstrate the power of love to their Queen Commander. They will win freedom if they are able to appease her.

The characters here are:

Drone 070: the M listener, referred to as 070

NOTE: The species name, Grob, rhymes with "mob."

The plot:

070 and 069 are on their home world, enjoying a nice post technology conference lunch, when the Grob fleet shows up and starts abducting people via teleport rays and assimilating them, converting them into Grob cybernetic drones. Scene ends with the couple being teleported away.

Scene 2

Later, 069 and 070 are awakened from their assimilated state but with their memories of life since assimilation removed, and they are interrogated by the Grob Queen about "love." She states that the phenomenon disappears when someone is assimilated, and they want to study it in depth for any advantage that may be gleaned. The Queen brings the couple into a mindscape.

Scene 3

The three are in a mindscape (in this case the bedroom in the house where the couple used to live), in human bodies, so they can have a sex scene. For the denouement, the Queen agrees to send the couple, unassimilated, to Gateway Theta where they can start a life of their own, while the collective integrates the lessons into their hivemind cortex.!<
