Hello everyone, and welcome to the cozy month of November!
This month we are observing the rich and unique culture and history of Indigenous peoples with Native American Heritage Month, as well as the International Day of Tolerance (Nov 16th) wherein various diverse religions, languages, ethnicities, and cultures are acknowledged and celebrated.
Native American Heritage Month was started in 1990 as a call for the recognition of Indigenous contributions and the awareness of historical and current adversities faced by Indigenous communities. This is a wonderful time to support any local indigenous businesses and learn more about their incredible arts and traditions.
As always, we invite sapphic creators of colour to introduce or promote themselves, and encourage listeners to shout-out and recommend sapphic content/creators they'd like to see more of. This month we are shining the spotlight on creators and content of Indigenous heritage, as well as content that features different languages and cultural influence!
And while you're here, feel free to discuss food, holidays, traditions, media, and anything else you might want to share!
