You've been feeling restless all day, but now that the sun has set, sleep eludes you. You found yourself out on a late-night walk through beautiful countryside in an attempt to clear your head, your feet confidently tracing an unfamiliar path. Eventually, you arrive at an old stone altar, one being tended by a woman who is singing softly under the gentle candlelight. Despite not knowing the language or recognizing the melody, you find yourself enraptured...
Hello, everyone! It's been a while since I've written a new script; life has been a little tumultuous, but I've finally gotten the time and energy to write! This idea has been knocking around my head for a while; Virgin Sacrifice is a major trope, but why is it the life of the virgin that is sacrificed, and not the virginity itself? I had a lot of fun writing this, and I hope you enjoy reading it (or even performing it!) too!
Disclaimer: As mentioned above, no characters die or are permanently harmed in this script, though the speaker does allude to a relative passing on recently. The "death" in the title is purely metaphorical.
Inclusivity notes: No description of either the Speaker or Listener is given, outside of the fact that feminine labels are used for them (such as "daughter" for the Speaker and "sweet girl" for the Listener).
Pet Names Used: The Speaker refers to the Listener as "little lamb," "sweetling," "sweet thing/girl," and "dear one/girl."
Without further ado, here is the script! Thank you for reading, and I hope you enjoy.
