It’s funny how events can make you see a song in a different perspective. This was one of those songs for me.
I’ve never had the confidence to post this but it’s my New Year’s Resolution to try things I’ve been afraid to do in the past and share my voice.
I have truly no idea on how my voice sounds to others and whether it’s even pleasing to listen to. I would love to hear thoughts that people have. It’ll help me make future endeavors better for everyone!
Well done for being brave enough to post, that's the first step! I've done a few songs on gwabackstage just to have a bit of fun so the advice I'll give is NOT from the standpoint of a vocal coach, or pro singer or anything. The first thing that helped me was to find my range. There are lots of youtube videos out there that can help you find your upper and lower limits. And when I found that, I started finding songs within that range. Because I can sing all the notes in it comfortably, I was much more confident singing (Yesterday can be a tricky one to sing - McCartney seems to have quite a high register).
And the second thing, which was huge for me, is to use Audacity, which is a free program you can record yourself with and add things like reverb. Doing that really gives your voice that bit more of a professional sounding quality and really helps. That more than anything really gave me confidence because it just sounded that much better! Good luck with your singing though, and remember there is a monthly karaoke thing you can sign up for :D
