I had such a blast hosting the GWAB Karaoke Challenge for March! So many submissions! If you missed all the amazing talent and pure fun we had last month, check it out!

I am excited to continue to help inspire and organize some of these themes as we spread some talent, content, and good vibes in this community through the gift of song!

If you've never heard of GWAB Karaoke Challenges before, well...

It's a themed FUN challenge we introduce at the beginning of each month. Check out Last Month's Theme to get the idea! I emphasize FUN because it doesn't matter you are a Singer or a "Singer"! We welcome any and all singers at any and all levels!

If singing brings you joy, by golly I wanna hear you have fun!

Remember...you can't be Shy...I'm Chi! (JK...you can be...you do you...but if you someone looking for some gentle encouragement to step into the spotlight...consider this my nudge)

Songs That Fooled You 😜

I thought it might be fun to do a theme inspired by April Fool's. Songs That Fooled You can include any Parody or Song who's lyrics people might mishear. I think most of us have heard of Weird Al Yankovic by now who made a career by creating song parodies and is affectionately known as the Prince of Parodies. Have you ever wanted to parody a song like Al? Here is your invitation to create your own! And, come on, we all have likely had that moment where we finally read the lyrics to a song and went, "Don't go chasing waterfalls."?! I've been singing it "Don't go, Jason Waterfalls." for YEARS!

For Song Parody reservations, please include the song it is a parody of 🙏🏻

For misheard lyric reservations, please include the misheard lyric vs original lyric reference 🙏🏻

“Bonus” points for Misheard Lyrics Song Submissions: Sing the misheard lyric instead of the original lyric!

Whether you get the lyrics wrong on purpose because you're an immature kid at heart, or you simply never learned the right words, we all have some famous songs that we never hear as the artist intended. Some of these misinterpretations are more commonly experienced than others—including a handful of misheard song lyrics that are probably more well known than the real ones.

HERE'S HOW TO PLAY

Comment on this post requesting to reserve a song that fits this month's theme. You can reserve up to 2 songs per username. Reservations will be published below as a table on a first come, first serve basis. Any songs you all pick will be listed here, and in an effort to stop fourteen versions of the same from populating the karaoke bar, we only allow one version of a song per language per solo singer, so get your songs/versions reserved ASAP!

Collaborations are more than welcome! Collaborations do not count against the 2 song limit.

DEADLINES

The closing date for this GWAB Karaoke Challenge is 11:59pm on Saturday, 30th April 2022 in UTC/GMT. While this is not a hard deadline, a "That's a Wrap" Post will be posted the following day and focus will shift to next month's theme. This means we will no longer update the chart so if you wish to have your work shared via that post, ensure you submit on or before the deadline.
