This is a newly favorite song I've been singing around the house all summer (and have failed miserably so far to play on my guitar, hence the karaoke track). My instinct at first was to sing it up the octave, but as I've found a home in the melody, I began to wonder why that was. I could reach the lower notes, just as Elton sang them, so why did I want to sing them higher? Most female voices in popular music do trend on the side of higher pitched, so we tend to think of that range as the default. Indeed, we often prize just how high a female singer's voice can go. So why not find the beauty in our lower registers too? I hope you will agree with my choice to showcase what I've come to accept is one of the most unique parts of my voice. Cheers, my luvs.
