In multi character scripts (FF4M, MM4F, TT4F), I have noticed that experienced writers steer clear of using names for the characters. How do I manage multiple characters without using names?

Post Body

I have been slowly learning the unspoken rules of the community, be it about feedback, posts, messages etc.

One of this was not using names for characters or listeners, so everyone can enjoy the script, and have the feeling that the script was made exclusively for them.

This works perfectly when script involves 1 performer and 1 listener. (F4M, M4F, T4F)

However, in multi character scripts, this rule kinda breaks down.

Here's an example:-

Scene: Roommate 1 wants the listener to ask Roommate 2 for something.

"can you go ask your other roommate for.." this sounds unnatural.

If i replace this with,

"Can you go ask her for.." this sounds vague!

I get worried whether the listener will get it, whether they'd be able to understand since they don't have my script with my notes.

Most of the time, i have seen the wonderful VAs of GWA pick up on this and make the necessary changes to scripts since they know exactly how to get something through to the listener.

But i wanted to know what i can do as a writer to be more direct about it? Or giving names to the characters is my only option?
