[Discussion] Dominant, Submissive or Switch?

Hello Backstage. ✉️

I am here to spark off some discussion in regards to the mindset and dynamic that is dominance, submission and switchy goodness.

So, here are some questions I'd like to ask.

  1. The spectrum of a dom and sub is not straight-forward black or white, as we could all be switches with a preference. Where do you lie on the spectrum? (Feel free to use percentages or even colour swatches for your answer as it is a very grey area.)

  2. How did you discover you were insert answer from above? Or how did find out about your preference?

  3. When you see a dom or sub tag, what do you think? (Do you think about the roles and dynamic set out? Does this then affect your mindset as a listener or performer?)

  4. When is it appropriate to use said, dom, sub or switch tag? (Are tags, a disclaimer for what's to come and the overall tone? Should all content have said tags?)

  5. How would you describe the headspace you get into when you're being dominant or submissive? And how does it feel? (Do headspaces differ if you're topping or bottoming?)

  6. There are many types of dom and sub. Is there one or multiple different types of headspaces you experience? (How would you describe each of the headspaces? As a sub or a dominant?)

  7. Do you think you'll try the other? (If you don't switch.)

  8. Do you think society's gender roles and expectations, influence your mindset of being able to submit or dominate?

  9. Sub-drops or Dom-drops, if you have experienced these, how would you describe these moments for those who don't know what they are? (How do you take care of yourself?)

  10. Do you think all audios and scripts should include aftercare? Or just those that have elements of non-con? (What do you like to hear in regards to aftercare?)

  11. Editors, performers, listeners and writers, all need aftercare as it can be intense and exhausting. What do you do in terms of aftercare for yourself?

You are valid. Your preferences are also valid. Fuck gender expectations! If you want to be vulnerable, you can be. If you want to take control, then take it. Now, acceptance can be difficult to achieve as mindsets can be ingrained into your very being. So, no matter how you cope, I hope you understand that here in this audible world, it is a safe and healthy environment to discover, experiment and express yourself. We understand and accept you.

Please remember to take care of yourself. Now, take a deep breath, inhale... take a moment, and then exhale...

Thank you for reading, and I look forward to all of your answers.
